What is Valentine’s day all about?

What do we really think about Valentine’s day? I was really shocked to see that the media are now advertising Valentine’s day gifts for children.  Are we taking the commercial side of this day too far?

How much has Valentine’s Day Changed?

When I was younger Valentine’s day was all about sending a secret card to someone you liked. It was all about the mystery and guessing who might have sent it. (if you got one. very disappointing if you didn’t) There was not all this hype around special gifts etc.

Then Valentine’s day developed into a romantic evening, a meal for two, a bunch of flowers, or a box of chocolates.

Is Valentine’s Day Too Commercial?

Where are we now? Presents for everyone? Have we lost the romance? The intrigue? What does it mean? Have we gone too far down the commercial road that it no longer means anything?

Valentine’s Day is the perfect opportunity to tell your loved ones how much they mean to you. Maybe it’s your opportunity to tell them what you think makes them so special to you?
